New Rochelle Library Features Rockwell Illustrations

On display are magazine covers Norman Rockwell illustrated while living and working in New Rochelle.

An exhibit of Norman Rockwell illustrations is on display at the New Rochelle Public Library through the month of January. The library held a reception Sunday to mark the event.

Barbara Davis, the library's community relations manager as well as the city's historian, said the 50 magazine covers, including Saturday Evening Post, are on loan from New Rochelle native Jennifer Faulkner. 

Davis also gave a 45-minute gallery talk about Rockwell and the residents he used in his works. She said New Rochelle was at one time a haven for illustrators.

Also on display is an additional exhibit about Rockwell's years living and working in New Rochelle that was originally curated by Davis and Theresa Kump Leghorn for the Museum of Arts and Culture at New Rochelle High School.

The exhibit will be on display in the the library's Lumen Winter Gallery during normal library hours. until Jan. 30th.
