1. Smooth Jazz

Why Go: KJ Denhert, the award-winning singer/songwriter of urban-folk and jazz music, will move you to laugh, dance and maybe even cry when she performs at 12 Grapes Music & Wine Bar.
Pricing: $5 or higher donation.

Where/When:
Tibbett’s Brook Park, 120 Teresa Ave., Yonkers, Sunday, Dec. 25, 11 a.m.
Why Go: Come run, walk or just spread some cheer during the Christmas Day race/run in Tibbett’s Brook Park in Yonkers. Sign up for a 1/8, 1/4, 3/4 or full marathon. All distances will take place on scenic paved pathways.
Pricing: Free.

3. Thrills and Chills
Where/When
: Westchester Skating Academy, 91 Fairview Park Dr., Elmsford, Sunday, Dec. 25, 1-3 p.m.
Why Go: A unique event of non-stop action and activities for all ages, skaters and non-skaters alike. Welcome to Hanukkah on Ice. Open skating for children and adults to contemporary Jewish music and classic Hanukkah songs. During the skating, a professional ice sculptor will carve a giant 8-foot-tall menorah out of a huge block of ice. A fire juggler will also be on hand. Latkes and doughnuts will be served.
Pricing: $10 in advance, $13 at the door.

When:
Westchester County Center, 198 Central Ave., White Plains, Dec. 26-29, noon-10 p.m.
Why Go: Local high-school hoop stars will hit the hard wood at the 13th Annual Westchester Slam Dunk Basketball Tournament. The tournament showcases 24 top boys’ and girls’ teams, 18 from the Lower Hudson Valley.
Pricing: $5 per day.

5. Gears in Motion…The Curious World of Patent Models 
Where/When: Hudson River Museum, 511 Warburton Ave., Yonkers, Ongoing through Jan.1.
Why Go: More than 50 intricately crafted working scale, one-of-a-kind models of inventions that were submitted to the U. S. Patent Office from the 1880s through the early 1900s. Intriguing to viewers of all ages, gadget and invention buffs to everyday folks.
Pricing: Adults, $5; seniors and children, $3.
