Our weekend events start on Friday this week with the musical "Cats."

1. Cats

Why Go:
If you have a thing for singing felines, then head to The White Plains Performing Arts Center Friday to see Cats, the musical that won seven Tony awards. Set in a junkyard, local cats audition to be chosen by their leader to journey to the Heavyside Lair to be reborn. Book & Lyrics by T.S. Eliot. Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

$40.

2. 3rd Quasi-annual Hot Chocolate Run
Where/When:
15 Potter Ave., New Rochelle, Saturday, Dec. 17; Check-in 8:30 a.m.; 10K run, 9:30 a.m.; 5K run, 9:45 a.m.
Why Go:
Get some exercise and help a good cause at the same time by running this relatively level course. Net proceeds will be donated to MAC Angels, which supports families with ALS, and the Junior League of Central Westchester.
Pricing:
$30.

3. Pictures with Santa at Fairway
Where/When: Fairway, 847 Pelham Pkwy., Pelham Manor, Saturday, Dec. 17, and Sunday, Dec. 18, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go: Children and their families can have their photos taken with Santa Claus at Fairway. A photographer will be there to capture the moment.
Pricing: Pictures are free with a $10 purchase; $5 without purchase.

Where/When: , 100 Playland Pkwy., Rye, Sunday, Dec. 18, 1:30-5 p.m.
Why Go: Hit the ice with the family Sunday at Playland Ice Casino.
Pricing:
Adults, $9; children 12 and under, $6. Discounts for County Park pass holders.

5. Joy to the World: Holiday Music for Classical Guitar and Mandolin
Where/When:
, 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle, Sunday, Dec. 18, 3 p.m.
Why Go: Take a break from the whirlwind that the holidays can be and enjoy the husband and wife duo of Judy Handler and Mark Levesque performing a holiday concert, featuring holiday songs with Brazilian, Latin American, swing, gypsy, classical and folk music influences, played on the guitar and mandolin.
Pricing: $2 suggested donation.
