Shakespeare in Silents

Enjoy a free screening of selected short silent films inspired by Shakespeare with live piano accompaniment provided by Ben Model , resident silent film accompanist at the Museum of Modern Art. Model creates and performs musical scores for silent movies in a style that is both evocative of the silent era and aware of  contemporary tastes. Films will include comedies that center around backstage antics —  such as "Back Stage" (1919) with Fatty Arbuckle and Buster Keaton  -- as well as more serious attempts at recreating Shakespeare’s plays in a medium without sound. Part of the Sound Shore Shakespeare Festival and One City, One Book.
