The Huguenot and New Rochelle Historical Association will hold a program and reception on Sunday August 7, at 2 p.m. on the Thomas Paine Cottage Museum lawn to celebrate local civil rights history by remembering the (1961) Taylor v. The Board of Education of the City School District of New Rochelle case against Lincoln School, and the major role it played in national school desegregation.

New Rochelle residents Sam and Joan Goldstein (ages 91 and 89, respectively) will provide personal reflections on the struggle. Linda Tarrant-Reid, an author, columnist and co-chair of the "Reflections of Change: a 50-Year Retrospective of the Lincoln School Decision” program; will address the history and impact of this event that changed our world.

Following the speakers, audience members will be invited to participate in a guitar-accompanied sing-a-long featuring some of songs that activists popularized during this era.

The event will be held rain or shine on front lawn of the Cottage at 20 Sicard Avenue, New Rochelle, NY.  For more information call 914-633-1776. Light refreshments will be served.
