CNR Drama Presents Once Upon A Mattress

CNR Drama will present the musical comedy Once Upon a Mattress from October 28 – November 6, 2011, on the Main Campus of The College of New Rochelle.

First produced in New York in 1959 starring Carol Burnett Once Upon a Mattress has delighted audiences for decades. It was revived on Broadway in 1997 starring Sarah Jessica Parker, and later was successfully presented on television. Based on Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Princess and the Pea,” it includes wonderful songs and dances, colorful sets and costumes, and plenty of good humor.

CNR Drama’s production of Once Upon a Mattress features 20 actors and actresses from the College and the surrounding community including Lisa Fitzgerald as Princess Winifred and graduate student Jennifer Bittner as Queen Aggravain. The play is directed by Laurie Peterson Castaldo (SNR ’94) and choreographed by JoAnna Marchetti Loftus (SAS ‘05/GS ‘07) with musical direction by Kurt Kelley. Raffaele A. Castaldo, Lara de Bruijn and Nick Kolin are the set, costume and lighting designers, respectively. The production stage manager is Marianna (Regina) Alvarado (SAS ’14).
