Lego (r) Day at the Huguenot Children's Library

Calling all “LEGO ® maniacs”: The Partnership for the Huguenot Children’s Library will host an afternoon of fun with the colorful plastic blocks as part of Arts Fest on Saturday, September 22nd from 12:30 to 5 pm. The Huguenot Children’s Library will welcome Block Stars, which will provide tons of LEGO ® parts, pieces and figures for children to play with in a free play environment. The PHCL is underwriting the cost of the Block Stars event to support Arts Fest and celebrate creativity.

This will be the fourth year that the PHCL has participated in ArtsFest says Lisa Bonalle, President. “This year we are celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Huguenot Children’s Library, and we are excited to be part of ArtsFest by sponsoring LEGO® Day again. Playing with LEGO ® building blocks give children the chance to build their own world and develop a range of intellectual, physical and social skills at the same time. It’s a perfect fit for us because the PHCL is committed to helping children and families develop their creativity and have fun together.”

PHCL Programming Committee member Catie Stern is organizing volunteers to help make the afternoon run smoothly. The Block Stars team can accommodate up to 24 children at a time, and Stern says the PHCL wants to make sure that every child who visits has fun. “The Huguenot Children’s Library has so much to offer,” she says. “It’s the only children’s library in Westchester county, with books, computers and activities geared to kids. And the adjacent playground, Jack’s Friendship Garden, offers one of the few handicapped accessible play spaces in the county. The Partnership for the Huguenot Children’s Library set out to create a warm welcoming gathering place for New Rochelle’s children and families, and we think we’ve achieved that.”
