Garden Club of New Rochelle

The public is invited to see The Garden Club of New Rochelle's Standard Flower Show at the New Rochelle Public Library on Monday, June 27 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday, June 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Since the Garden Club is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, the Flower Show is appropriately entitled "Reflections of Anniversaries".  Visitors can see the best samples of horticulture and displays of floral designs submitted by Garden Club members.  All entries will be judged by official judges of the Ninth District Federated Garden Clubs of New York.

Flower Show Chairperson Regina Ansbro said, "Visitors to the show will see the best of flowers and other horticulture raised by our members.  I expect the roses grown by our Rosarian, Astolfo Leon, will be fabulous and a big hit with the public."  Visitors can also compare their own selections of first, second, third or honorable mention in horticulture or floral designs with the judges' choices of awards.

The Garden Club has a long history of programs which benefit New Rochelle, including civic beautification, garden therapy in nursing homes, making wreaths for the Montrose Veterans hospital and many others. The Club regularly schedules programs about flower arranging, cultivating plants and conservation.  Mary Bowles, Co-President of the Garden Club says, "It is not necessary to have a garden to be a Garden Club member.  Apartment dwellers and anyone who enjoys beautiful flowers is invited to join as well.  New members are warmly welcomed.
