Empty Bowls for Hope

transFORM Gallery is working with local artists to provide hope to people who are in need. The proceeds from this event, Empty Bowls for HOPE, will go directly to HOPE Community Services.

How it Works:
When you arrive at transFORM on Sept. 24, you will choose a bowl made by a local artist, and it will be filled with soup donated by a local restaurant. You can then make a recommended donation which will be given to HOPE Community Services.

** You will get to keep the bowl.

For Artists:

Please donate a bowl (value $5 to $50) for Empty Bowls for Hope. Contact transFORM for more details.

Empty Bowl.. and it’s roots:
Starting back in 1990 in Michigan as a high school art class project to raise funds for a food drive, students made ceramic bowls, served a meal of soup and bread, and invited guests to keep the bowls as a reminder of hunger in the world. This simple project has now evolved into a massive world-wide program through support for food banks, soup kitchens, and other similar organizations… and all to to fight hunger! Please join us on September 24 at transFORM Gallery in New Rochelle.

HOPE Community Services:
Founded in the 80s by Mary Lou McNaney, in response to the hunger she saw in New Rochelle, this non-profit agency opened its soup kitchen doors for the first time back in 1984. HOPE has grown to become the largest emergency food pantry and soup kitchen in the region. Along with food, the agency now provides clothing, emotional support, immigration services, and other necessities.
