The Fabulous Sixties Rock Show  – a musical tribute to the sounds of the “swinging sixties”  -- will  kick off the annual Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert Series at Hudson Park on Wednesday, July 11th  at 7:30 pm.

The concert series, which features an eclectic menu of free music on eight consecutive Wednesdays in July and August, is presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, in partnership with the New Rochelle Dept. of Parks and Recreation, and sponsored by Webster Bank. Additional support is being provided by Metro Med, which is helping to underwrite the August 8th  concert by New Rochelle Opera. For more information visit the NRCA website at www.newrochellearts.org or telephone the Dept. of Parks and Recreation at 654-2087.

Bill Zimmerman, Commissioner of New Rochelle’s Dept. of Parks & Recreation, says the city is proud to continue the summer concert tradition. “The support of Webster Bank has made it possible for us to continue to bring free concerts to the community. Their generosity is an example of true commitment to the community they serve.”

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
