Five New Rochelle downtown art galleries will host a Downtown Gallery Art Walk for the public from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, January 25 and 26.
The featured galleries are Mahlstedt Gallery, 415 Huguenot St.; Recologie Gallery, 49 Lawton St.; Backstreet Gallery, 43 Lawton St.; Reverol & Company Contemporary Art, 300 Huguenot St., and Gallery Roc, 2 Division St.
Ralph DiBart, executive director of the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District, said his organization has been working to create an environment welcoming to the arts. He said he was encouraged that the downtown is becoming a vibrant center for artists, artist work studios, galleries and public art.
"I hope that the public like enjoy the exciting art exhibits at our downtown galleries, our public art installations and, of course, the culinary arts at one of our growing number of great downtown restaurants," DiBart said. "Everything is within walking distance. Park your car once and enjoy your downtown, the arts and fine dining."
