Get Out: Things to Do This Weekend

The upcoming weekend is full of art shows and a play by Shakespeare.

1.
Where/When:
Rye Town Park, 95 Dearborn Ave., Rye (near Forest Avenue), Saturday, Oct. 22, 2-4 p.m.
Why Go:
Seaside Steel is a show put on by artist and New Rochelle resident David Tobey. The show will feature a sculpture created by Tobey and will have a reception. All Patch readers are invited to the opening reception party. Admission, parking and refreshments are free. The sculpture will be on exhibit from Oct. 22 to Nov. 19. The Performing Arts Center, 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase, Saturday, Oct. 22, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Why Go:
Enjoy a performance of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, directed by Christopher McCann. Saturday’s 8 p.m. showing incorporates a Q & A portion with the actors.

$20.

Pelham Art Center, 155 Fifth Ave., Pelham, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 22 and 23, all day.
Why Go:
Artists Edward Dorson, Chris Smith, Edward Burtynsky, Liz Phillips and Jae Hi Ahns use their media of choice to interpret the beauty of the ocean. Photography, sculpture and even sound are used to put on this unique show.

Free.

The Pelham Picture House, 175 Wolfs Lane, Pelham, Sunday, Oct. 23, 1:30 p.m.
Why Go:
Marcel Camus’ interpretation of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice is set in Rio de Janeiro during Carnival. Black Orpheus won the Academy Award for best foreign-film and the Cannes Film Festival’s Palme d’Or.
Pricing: Advance general admission, $6; Picture House members, $5; at the door non-members, $10.

Why Go: Reflections: Familiar Stories/ New Forms is The Lazarus Gallery's latest exhibit. The mixed media exhibit will be on display through Dec. 12.
