1.) Head over to the Picture House in Pelham, located at 175 Wolfs Ln, today for Family Flicks: The Breakfast Club. The 1980s John Hughes classic chronicles the lives of five teenagers as they complete a day-long detention after school. The movies begins at 5:30 p.m. today and Tuesday. Tickets cost $9 for general admission; $8 for students, seniors and and children; and $6 for Picture House Members.
2.) Beanberry’s Cafe & Yogurt Bar in New Rochelle is celebrating its one year anniversary Tuesday, Feb. 21. The cafe, located on 265 Hugeunot St., will give a free cup of Coffee to is first 100 customers and provide food and drink specials all day long. There will also be a free raffle and four winners will have the chance to win a $25 gift certificate. Teh event begins at 7 a.m.
3.) The Jewish Community Center of Mid-Westchester, located on 999 Wilmot Rd. in Scarsdale, is hosting Israeli folk dancing classes everyday Tuesday from Feb. 21 to March 27. The classes start at 7:45 p.m. The sessions cost $11 per class and walk-ins are welcome.
4.) The College of New Rochelle, located on 29 Castle Pl. in New Rochelle, is hosting a lecture entitled “Race and Racism and Adult Education” on Wednesday, Feb. 22. The panelists are the authors of “The Handbook of Race and Adult Education: A Resource for Dialogue on Racism.” The book focuses on race and racism and the effect these factors have on the marginalization or oppression of groups and individuals. The panel discussion is presented free and is open to the public. 5.) Once again, Franklin will be on hand at the Voracious Reader in Larchmont on Friday, Feb. 24. Franklin, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, will be available from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. to be read too or simply keep patrons company. Call 914-630-4581 for more information.
