5 Things for the Week Ahead: Holiday Gifts, Art and Champagne

5 things you need to know for the week of Dec. 12, 2011.

1. , an annual free exhibit, is a great way to support local artists who create handmade goods, while making sure you get all your gifts checked off your list. The “holiday gift boutique” will be occurring Monday from 12-5 p.m. at Mamaroneck Artists Guild.

2. Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 10 a.m. you can get a head start with your holiday gifts at held at . Artistic gifts, such as jewelry, glass and artwork, will be available at a 15 percent discount for this free event.

3. Twenty students of a class taught by Joanna Schomber will showcase the ceramic works they created at Tuesday at 7 p.m. Enjoy the art created by these budding artists in a free event located in the Museum of Arts & Culture at the high school.

4. Enjoy the during the winter holiday, while buying some gifts and champagne. Shop in the Garden is a $30 event occurring Thursday at 6 p.m., which is sure to entertain you during your shopping experience.

5. Take a break from holiday shopping and head to the at 7 p.m. Thursday for a free screening of Biutiful, the 2010 Spanish film, about a man on the wrong side of the law struggling to provide for his children on the dangerous streets of Barcelona. The movie, which has English subtitles, stars Javier Bardem.
