Would You Be Carmine's New Owner?

One of the many dogs and cats available for adoption at the New Rochelle Humane Society.

From the New Rochelle Humane Society:

Hi, my name is Carmine. I came to the shelter in November of 2011 when I wandered away from my home exploring one day. Someone called animal control because I was not on a leash with a person. I guess that is not allowed. Gee how was I do know, I am just a dog.

I really thought my family would come looking for me. You know if my family was lost I would have looked for them. I waited and waited day after day at the shelter searching every face that came looking into my kennel, but sadly they never came. This made me very sad, I did love them.

The people at the New Rochelle Humane Society have been very nice to me. They made sure I got all my vaccines and even micro-chipped me. I made a special friend at the shelter; his name is Jon. Jon takes me hiking a few times each week. Jon has a cocker spaniel that joins us on our hikes. Jon has even taken me on vacation with him upstate New York.

We hike a lot, but Jon says my favorite thing to do is to lounge around the cabin. Jon said I am very well behaved. I don't jump on the furniture, never chew anything and have excellent house manners. He even said I am the best behaved dog he has every taken to his cabin and Jon has taken about a dozen dogs on vacation with him over the years he has been a volunteer for New Rochelle Humane Society.

I really want to have a home of my very own. Would you like to meet me? You can meet me today. We are open Fridays through Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Contact the  for more information. They are located at 70 Portman Rd. in New Rochelle. Their phone number is 914-632-2925.

Carmine looks so nice. I'd take him if I didn't have my two big dogs. I sure hope someone appreciates his smile and good behavior!

I agree. I can't have a dog where I'm currently living.

It seemed to me the key point of moving the City Yard from the waterfront was to open up theRead More waterfront and turn that run down and obsolete yard into a public park overlooking Long Island Sound. The westside site was the most cost effective place to move the yard. Not ideal, but no real alternative has been proposed. I don't think this has much to do with racism. All races can enjoy more of the waterfront. Any development around it will add to our tax base

Ms. Aronow, The issue is that an alternative has been suggested, Ward Acres, as it is much largerRead More and strategically beneficial for the City of New Rochelle. I don't think the recent public discussions has resulted in unanimity in terms of the waterfront being an entirely public venue for all races to enjoy.
