Toddler Reading, LEGOs and Fondue

Activities in the coming days for the younger set.

1) Storytime for Toddlers
Where/When: , 590 Central Park Ave., Scarsdale, Thursday, Aug. 23 at 10:30 a.m.
Why go: Every Tuesday and Thursday, Fun Craft of Scarsdale hosts toddler storytime for an hour beginning at 10:30 a.m. Each storytime includes a craft session, a healthy snack and dancing to music and colorful lights. Pre-registration is Required.

Pricing: $12.

Where/When: , 121 Larchmont Ave., Larchmont, Thursday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m.
Why go: Enjoy the music of national award winning singer-songwriter Patricia Shih as part of the Dream Big with Big Ideas summer program. Every song involves audience participation by singing, dancing and playing games. Please register by calling 914-834-2281.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When: , 121 Larchmont Ave., Larchmont, Friday, Aug. 24 at 3:30 p.m.
Why go: Share your love of LEGOS with other children ages 6 and up and create your own project based on a different theme for each session. Registration is not required.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When: 99 Dock St., Yonkers, Sunday, Aug. 26 at 2 p.m.
Why go: Every Sunday, from July through October, the Science Barge on Yonkers' waterfront invites children ages 4 through 10 for hands-on art and science workshops. On tap for Aug. 26 is the Blue Crab Blitz. The crab traps are baited and waiting for you to come to the Science Barge and enjoy the blue crab frenzy. Traps will be provided.
Pricing: $5, suggested donation.

Where/When: , 30 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, Sunday, Aug. 26 at 5 p.m.
Why go: Experience a “FUN-Do” night out and make memories you will cherish for a long time. Come and enjoy a four-course fondue meal while being entertained by magician Mike Kirschner, with clever card tricks and metal-bending magic. A takeaway gift of chocolate-covered strawberries and a personalized card will be given to all children at the end of the meal.
Pricing: Adult, $34.95; 16 and under, $24.95.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
