The Week Ahead: Road Paving, Events Outdoors

Here's what's happening this week in and around New Rochelle.

Road resurfacing this week
The city's summer road projects begin Tuesday. They include sections of Wildcliff Drive, Fairview Place, South Division Street, Washington Avenue and Glenwood Place. Work runs from July 23-26 as conditions permit.

Echo Bay impacts
A public hearing on the Final Environmental Impact Statement on the Echo Bay residential/retail development starts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the City Council's chambers, 515 North Ave. Click here to see what people said at the public hearing for the draft document.

Summer Sounds Concert Series continues

New Rochelle native Caroline Doctorow and her folk-rock band The Steamrollers perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Hudson Park. The concert is part of the New Rochelle Council on the Arts Summer Sounds Concert Series, and it's free. Come on down and give Doctorow a hometown welcome.

Family Film Frenzy: "Finding Nemo" pool party
This after-hours event is sponsored by Westchester County and takes place at Glen Island Beach from 7-10 p.m. Thursday. Bring a blanket...bring a picnic! $5 for ages 5 and up.

Commuting by train into the city this week?
If you're along the Long Island Sound shoreline, you know the difference between the old rail cars and the new M-8's. According to the Connecticut DOT's latest update, 216 of those M-8 cars have been delivered to the New Haven rail yard, and 196 are in operation.
