Morgan Stanley Volunteers Brighten Schaffer Extended Care

Part of Sound Shore Health System, Schaffer Extended Care Center is accredited by the New York State Department of Health and has a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service.

Sound Shore Health System’s Schaffer Extended Care Center was recently the beneficiary of Morgan Stanley’s Global Volunteer Month project. Staff from the financial services firm donated over 50 volunteer hours from 25 of its Westchester employees, according to a release from Sound Shore. This spring the  volunteers decorated the walls of Schaffer with creations ranging from lady bugs to turtles, and from giraffes to fish.

The goal of the project was to bring generosity of spirit and smiles to everyone at Schaffer and remind everyone of importance of community outreach.

The background of the pairing of Morgan Stanley and Schaffer, according to the release began in 2010. Three years ago local Morgan Stanley employees wanted to plan a project and contacted The Volunteer Center of United Way.  After a single phone call, a match was made with Schaffer.
