Right now the forecast doesn't call for a white Christmas in New Rochelle this year, but folks should be ready for some major rain and possible snow showers this weekend.
The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rain and strong winds for the area—with possible thunderstorms—beginning late tonight and continuing into Friday morning, which is the first day of winter. There could be up to two inches of rain.
The worst of the weather will hit during Friday's rush-hour, morning commute, according to the NWS.
Also, snow showers could early Saturday morning, but it looks like that is the worst of it with the rest of the week through Christmas Day is in the clear, with a highs in the upper 30s and low 40s and mostly sunny daytime skies.
Keep the umbrellas and boots handy this weekend while doing that last-minute holiday shopping!
