New Rochelle Public Library to Temporarily Close Memorial Street Entrance

The following announcement is from the New Rochelle Public Library:

The construction on the first of the library’s two main entrances will begin on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. The entrance to the library located at the bottom of the stairs from Memorial Highway will closed to the public from April 16, 2014 – February 2015, at the earliest. Patrons may use the entrances on Lawton Street or on Library Green.

The construction is one of phases of the library’s 2010 Bond Referendum to update the 1978 building and bring it to code compliance. This project will result in an attractive and welcoming entrance into the library’s lobby that is more energy efficient and will include a new foyer, a book drop, and automatic doors for greater handicapped accessibility.
