[VIDEO] New Rochelle Library Kicks-off Summer Reading

The program is designed to keep children reading through the summer.

Library Green was the scene of a party Saturday to kick off Dream Big: Read!, the 's summer reading program.

The afternoon event featured a chance for parents to register their children for the program, arts and crafts, jump rope and Hula-Hoop and blowing soap bubbles.

Entertainment was provided by Louie Miranda, who provided a bilingual program of singing, dancing and games for 45 minutes.

The summer reading program was sponsored by the Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library and the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
