New Rochelle Historian to Talk About Past Anniversaries

The event will be part of the League of Women Voters of New Rochelle's "Coffee and Conversation" series and ties in with the city's year-long 325th Anniversary celebration.

The League of Women Voters will host New Rochelle City Historian Barbara Davis Friday, March 15 during “Coffee and Conversation” at the New Rochelle Public Library at 9:30 a.m.

The session will allow participants to join New Rochelle’s 325th Anniversary, through an illustrated slide show describing the unique and the monumental anniversaries the community has had through the years.

"From the 'Largest Parade EVER,' to oddities such as the 'fatt calfe' ceremony, New Rochelleans have reveled in their city’s birthdays unlike any other municipality," Davis said.

She will highlight many of these observances, while providing a glimpse into New Rochelle’s past century.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
