New Roc City Rang in New Year at Noon

The annual event is part of the Family Days series from the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District.

There were clowns, face painting, arts and crafts, martial arts and sports demonstrations. But more importantly, there was the countdown and the balloon drop.

New Roc City was the scene of the third annual Ring in the New Year at Noon celebration, where children had the opportunity to experience the excitement of a New Year's Eve without staying up until midnight.

Parents and children listened to radio personality Jimmy Fink of 107.1 The Peak as he rang in the New Year for them with the countdown to noon, complete with the dropping of thousands of brightly colored balloons.

Each child got a goodie bag filled with coupons and passes to New Roc City venues, along with information about upcoming Family Day events.

The BID Family Day extravaganza was made possible by New Roc City and participating New Roc tenants including Monroe College, Regal IMAX Theater, Fun Fuzion Games and Rides, Modell’s Sporting Goods, Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebee's, Premier Martial Arts, Jani Chinese & Japanese Restaurant, Laz Parking, Gamestop, Stop & Shop, and Planet Fitness.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
