Yankees' star Mariano Rivera will host Refuge of Hope Church's Thanksgiving dinner at AJ's Burgers for 120 children and parents from Hope's Community Services. The dinner will have two sessions: the first from 1-3 p.m. and the second from 5-7 p.m. today.
AJ's owner Alan Cohen is excited about Rivera's increased presence in New Rochelle. He hopes Rivera's presence will contribute to New Rochelle's sense of community. "I have been in New Rochelle for some time and events like this are too few and far between...it's an honor to be able to work with Mariano," said Cohen, "I've been blown away by his sense of commitment to New Rochelle."
The families from Hope's Community Services will be served a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all of the trimmings, alongside AJ's classics such as sliders and pizza. In addition to delicious food and full stomachs, children will have the opportunity to spend time with Rivera.
