Lisa Bonalle, president of the partnership, said the library was empty—the result of threatened closure and an arson attempt. A grass-roots effort saved and renovated the structure.

"Thanks to the community's continued support, the Huguenot Children's Library continues to be a vital hub of reading, learning and creativity for the children of New Rochelle," Bonalle said. "We hope the Crystal Gala will celebrate our past while helping to write the next chapter."

The library circulates more than 42,000 books, audiotapes and videotapes each year, serving more than 6,000 children.

Tickets to the gala cost $175 and can be purchased by sending a check made payable to PHCL to Lori Morrow, 111 Clove Rd., New Rochelle NY 10801.

The evening will begin with cocktails at 7 p.m., followed by dinner and dancing to the music of Remixx. There will also be a benefit auction of items that include a weekend get-away to New Orleans.

Donations for the benefit auction are being sought by the gala committee. Ads in the gala journal are being sold as well. For information, contact phclevents@gmail.com or call 914-260-5349.
