Grab & Go Kids Planner: Tots Yoga, Hockey Tryouts and Reptile Show

Activities and events for the younger set for this coming weekend.

1. Yoga Tots

Where/When: , 1 Library Plz., New Rochelle, Saturday, April 21 at 10 a.m. and , 794 North Ave., New Rochelle, Saturday, April 21 at 11 a.m.
Why go: Toddlers will have fun "playing yoga" during Yoga Tots. Using puppets,
props and songs, toddlers will take a yoga adventure, play yoga games, go upside down and end each class with a yoga relaxation. The sessions are taught by certified kids yoga instructor Susan Fried. Adult participation is encouraged!
Pricing: Free. 

2. Cherry Blossom Festival at Pelham Arts Center
Where/When: , 155 Fifth Ave., Pelham, Saturday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m.
Why go: The first Cherry Blossom Festival (Sakura Matsuri) will have free workshops and activities in the traditional arts of Japan, including Japanese classical dance and flower arranging.
Pricing: Free.

3. Mario Kart Tournament
Where/When: Greenburgh Public Library, 300 E Main St., Elmsford, Saturday, April 21 at 2:30 p.m.
Why go: For grades six through 12, the Mario Kart Tournament is limited to 32 players, who must be present at 2 p.m. Call 914-721-8224 to register.
Pricing: Free. 

4. Pelham Youth Hockey Association Tryouts
Where/When: Ice Hutch Ice Rink, 655 Garden Ave., Mount Vernon, Saturday, April 21, and Sunday, April 22 at 4:20 p.m.
Why go: Open tryouts will be held Saturday and Sunday. Click here for times and ages. The registration fee for tryouts at all levels is $100 per player if paid prior to first tryout date. The fee at door is $115. Registration is available online on the Pelham Hockey website by clicking here. Please direct any questions you may have regarding tryouts to Chris Ronan or Gary Rothschild at info@pelhamhockey.com.
Pricing: $115, fee at door; $100, if paid before Saturday. 

5. New York Metro Reptile Show
Where/When: , 198 Central Ave., White Plains, Sunday, April 22 at 10 a.m.
Why go: This is one of the Northeast's largest reptile expos featuring many live pet reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates on display and for sale. There will be more than 200 vendor tables. Books, supplies, cages, etc. will be available for purchase. All children must be accompanied by an adult over 21.
Pricing: Adults, $10; children 7-12, $5; children under 7, free.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
