1. Young Critics Club at Voracious Reader
Where/When: , 1997 Palmer Ave., Larchmont, Friday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m.
Why go: Book lovers ages 8-11 are invited to discuss favorite stories and take home free copies of not-yet-published books. The admission fee covers pizza and soda or juice. 

Pricing: $5.

Where/When: , 155 Fifth Ave, Pelham, Friday, Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m.
Why go: The Pelham Art Center will host a free opening reception and all-age art workshop for the center's latest exhibition titled “Separation Anxiety.”
Pricing: Free

3. EagleFest 2012
Where/When: , Gateway Plz. & Croton Point Ave., Croton-on-Hudson, Saturday, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m.
Why go: An abundance of activities from guided and independent eagle viewing to storytelling, along with children's programs, bird walks and displays. Entertaining and educational shows are taking place all day long in The Eagle Theatre and Eaglet Stage heated tents.  
Pricing: Advance sale tickets for Eagle Theatre, $5; $10 when purchased at the door; children ages 3 and under, free.

4. New Rochelle Little League Registration
Where/When: , 30 Trinity Pl, New Rochelle, Saturday, Feb. 4, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
Why go: Registration begins for the 2012 Little League season.
Pricing: Free. 

5.
Where/When: , 895 Shore Rd, Bronx, Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m.
Why go: Participants will learn about the history of making hand crafted valentines cards and get the chance to make their very own, implementing techniques from the 19th century using scraps.
Pricing: $5

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
