Free Holiday Parking in New Rochelle

The free parking promotes holiday shopping in the downtown area.

New Rochelle shoppers can take advantage of free parking downtown through the end of the year.

The City will offer two hours of free holiday parking in most municipal lots.

Off-street parking fees will be waived in all lots controlled by either meters or ticket machines, with the exception of the New Roc City Garage, the New Rochelle Transit Center and all permit parking areas.

The free parking goes into effect Monday and continues through and including Saturday, Dec. 31 from 9 am to 9 pm.

Normal parking regulations will resume Monday, Jan. 2.

Very vague.2 hours "most lots"? Which ones?Street parking=vague again.Sure reface buildings and make shopping more attractive to who?People who want a ticket. If i'm out to watch sporting events at local resturants/pubs i don't want to move my car or go back out in nasty weather to feed the meter or move my car.I'd rather stay home or go elsewhere.

So, I leave Sound Shore Emergency Room at 8:45PM last Saturday with my 76 yr old mother; prescription in hand. We think to go the CVS pharmacy near the Library. My mother likes this place as it is close to her home on Union Avenue. I park my car at 8:50PM. thinking that it was OK to park - thinking again that paying the meter after 9PM was not necessary. I go in to the CVS with my mother (walking slowly) - we wait for her prescription - walk out to the car at 9:12PM and I have a $25 ticket. In fact the meter maid is having a terrific time will all of the cars on the library parking lot with tickets on cars who parked there. I advocated for many of the senior citizens in my mom's building to use this CVS as it is less crowded. Now my mother has put a sign on her Bldg telling folks not to go there. Paying for parking after 9pm in New Rochelle - what an interesting concept.
