Though many area districts cancelled school Tuesday, children boarded buses and arrived in class as usual in New Rochelle.

The New Rochelle Public Library is open with normal hours, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

City departments appear to be operating as usual, though Tuesday night’s meeting of the New Rochelle Historic and Landmarks Review Board has been cancelled.

There’s no change to scheduled programs at the White Plains YMCA.

New Rochelle’s free 2-hour holiday parking program kickstarted Monday and is in effect. Here’s a notice from the municpal website:

“In continuation of an annual tradition and to promote holiday shopping in New Rochelle, the City will offer two hours of free holiday parking in certain municipal lots. Off-street parking fees will be waived in all lots controlled by either meters or pay by space machines, excluding the New Roc City Garage, the New Rochelle Transit Center and all permit parking areas. Free two-hour holiday parking will be effective from Monday, December 9, 2013 through Tuesday, December 31 from 9 am to 9 pm. Normal parking regulations will resume on Thursday, January 2, 2014.”

Here’s a link to traffic cameras on area highways, including I-95 just south of the Connecticut border, Exit 21 Rt 1-287, Exit 18a Mamaroneck Avenue, Exit 16 Cedar Street and Exit 15 New Rochelle.

The area is under a Winter Weather Advisory through 5 p.m.
