Astorino Lights Menorah at JCC Community Hanukkah Candle Lighting

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino helped light the giant menorah at the Mid-Westchester JCC.

County Executive Rob Astorino helped light the giant menorah at the JCC of Mid-Westchester in New Rochelle on Tuesday, Dec. 11, when the JCC hosted a community candle lighting on the fourth night of Hanukkah.

JCC Co-president Ophira Cukierman welcomed the crowd, followed by the Astorino who commented on how great it was to see the diversity of people who had gathered to celebrate as one community.  Other dignitaries who joined the celebration were White Plains Mayor Tom Roche, County Legislator Sheila Marcotte, UJA Annual Campaign Chair Caryl Orlando and Westchester Jewish Council VP Paul Warhit.

Astorino, along with Rabbi Velvl Butman, of Chabad Lubavitch of Westchester County, was raised in a Con Edison cherry picker, where he lit the menorah lamps while Rabbi Butman led the crowd in the traditional Hanukkah candle lighting blessings.
