Westchester Teens Receive Singer Scholarship Awards for Summer Trips to Israel

Westchester teens received Singer Scholarship Awards toward summer programs in Israel on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at UJA-Federation of New York’s White Plains office. The awards, funded by Fran and Saul Singer of White Plains and administered by UJA-Federation, help offset the cost of Israel experiences for teens entering grades 10 through 12. The teens were nominated for these merit awards by their synagogues or a UJA-Federation network agency (such as a local Jewish community center) and were required to develop a community service project.

“In addition to inspiring a passion for Jewish life and learning — which is why we’re so thrilled to work with Fran and Saul Singer who fund these scholarships — UJA-Federation also cares for those in need in Westchester, throughout New York, in Israel, and in 70 countries around the world,” Caryl Orlando, UJA-Federation’s Westchester Campaign Chair, said to the gathering. “No doubt, you’ll see this when you’re in Israel.” Fran Singer, who spoke to the group about her pride and passion for Israel and its successes, gave each recipient a certificate recognizing his or her award.
