Mary Jo Jacobs to Speak at NAACP October 23rd

Mary Jo Jacobs, a candidate for County Legislator in New Rochelle's District 10, has been invited to speak to the NAACP’s New Rochelle Chapter on October 23rd. Ms. Jacobs did not attend the NAACP’s Candidates Forum that took place on October 9th because she was not notified of the event.

According to Ms. Jacobs’ campaign manager, Tia Alleyne, Ms. Jacobs learned of the Candidates Forum on October 9th when she read about it on a local news website. Ms. Alleyne attended the meeting and reached out to Ron Williams, President of the NAACP’s New Rochelle chapter, to inform him of the oversight. Mr. Williams was unable to produce a copy or verify that a written invitation had been sent to Ms. Jacobs.  He apologized and offered an equal opportunity to Ms. Jacobs to meet with the NAACP.

"I look forward to meeting with the NAACP on October 23rd “ says Ms. Jacobs. Concerning the oversight, she added “I would have attended on the 9th had I received an invitation with the other candidates. I am an admirer of the NAACP and all it has achieved, both locally and nationally. I am glad to get the same opportunity as my opponent had to meet with the members of this great organization.”
