Two CNR Swimmers Named HVWAC All-Conference

Two College of New Rochelle swimmers have been named to the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) All-Conference team, it was announced recently by the conference office.  Junior Milagros Lugo (Bronx, NY/Walton HS) and freshman Claudia Benitez (White Plains, NY/White Plains HS) received this recognition.

 
Lugo dominated the Backstroke for the Blue Angels, recording the team's best times in the 50 Back (38.19), 100 Back (1:21.75) and 200 Back (3:10.06).  She led the team in points earned during the season and also swam the Freestyle, Breaststroke and Butterfly for CNR.
 
Benitez proved to be a versatile swimmer for the Blue Angels, posted the fastest times on the team in the 100 Breaststroke (1:34.79), 200 Breaststroke (3:29.00) and 200 Individual Medley (3:11.73).  Second on the team in points earned, the White Plains, NY resident also competed in Freestyle, and Butterfly events for CNR.  Benitez was twice named HVWAC Swimming Rookie of the Week.

I think it's great that Pamela Davis stepped up to run and I would be glad to vote for her any otherRead More year. But this year we have one of New Rochelle's most dedicated and knowledgeable activists running. Bob Cox knows New Rochelle and the school district inside and out. I'm not sure the same can be said for Pam Davis. If you want someone who already knows where the wasteful spending is, and already knows the district's strengths and weaknesses, then Bob Cox is the person. Who cares how congenial he is? Where some people see anger and finger-pointing, others see tenacity and accountability.
