2 Friends Team Up To Benefit Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle

Accomplished, driven, sophisticated and extremely stylish are adjectives people use to describe Erika Munro Kennerly and Michelle Sanchez-Boyce. Both women enjoy successful careers, happy families and stellar reputations within the community. But the members and staff at the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle ignore those earlier mentioned adjectives and prefer to label them “outstanding, philanthropic and truly committed to the cause!” In an effort to empower and uplift young girls, Munro Kennerly and Sanchez-Boyce have teamed up to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle by hosting a “Cul-De-Sac Couture” event from September 6th until September 8th. A portion of the proceeds raised from this event will benefit S.M.A.R.T. Girls Rock, a program implemented by the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle for young women within the community.

Smart Girls Rock! is a program designed to provide mentorship opportunities for girls ages 15 – 17.  Through dynamic sessions, highly participatory workshops, exciting excursions and mentoring opportunities with adult women. S.M.A.R.T. Girls Rock! participants explore societal attitudes and values as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good health care and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.  The program currently serves young women, of various socio-economic backgrounds, from the New Rochelle area and its surrounding communities. “There are so many negative influences out there for girls today, said Munro Kennerly. Programs like S.M.A.R.T. Girls Rock! boost self esteem, emphasize healthy lifestyle choices and guide each girl on the path to success. I feel blessed to positively contribute my energy and efforts in support of the Club!”

“Erika and I knew we wanted to do something to support the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, but we wanted it to be special, said Michelle Sanchez-Boyce. Cul-De-Sac Couture is a gala garage sale featuring designer clothes, fine furniture, artwork and more.  Savvy shoppers will encounter fabulous finds from Gucci, Prada, Fendi, and a host of other renowned designers. Although the designer labels are the focus there are items available for every budget. Attendees that day might even find themselves shopping next to a celebrity or two!”

Cul-De-Sac Couture will take place at 23 Hunt Path in New Rochelle, NY (off Pinebrook Blvd) from 9 am – 5 pm September 6th through September 8th.

“Erika and Michelle are not only fabulous friends to each other but they’ve been an absolute blessing to the Club, said Quay Watkins, Executive Director at the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle.  Innovative ideas like Cul-De-Sac Couture help us raise critical dollars needed to continue excellent and impactful programs like S.M.A.R.T. Girls Rock!  I can’t thank them enough for they’re doing in support of the kids! My hope is that the event is overwhelmed with eager shoppers September 6th, 7th and 8th.”
