Road Paving Continues, Outdoor Concert, Clear Skies

Here are a few of the things you need to know in New Rochelle for Wednesday, August 14, 2013.

1. The City of New Rochelle scheduled milling and paving operations for the downtown Wednesday, August 14. Streets include Main Street from Division Street to North Avenue, Memorial Highway from Main Street to the entrance of the Library Parking Lot, and Westchester Place. Due to the high volume of daytime traffic, work will be done at night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Parking on affected roadways will be prohibited as of 7 p.m. each evening. Roads may be closed intermittently while work is being done. Work will be scheduled as conditions permit.

2. The Emil Paolucci Summer Sounds Concert Series continues with Silver Streaks at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the band shell in Hudson Park. The concert is free.

3. Wednesday's forecast calls for sunny, with a high near 78. Northwest wind 11 to 15 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Wednesday night will be clear, with a low around 57. Thursday calls for more of the same.

5. The days are definitely getting short as we head toward fall. The sun will rise Tuesday, August 13, at 6:04 a.m. and will set at 7:56 p.m. Just one week ago, it rose at 5:57 a.m. and set at 8:05 p.m.
