Paving Continues, Good Weather and ICYMI

Here are some things you need to know in New Rochelle for Thursday, August 15, 2013.

1. Scheduled milling and paving operations for the downtown New Rochelle continues Thursday, August 15. Streets include Main Street from Division Street to North Avenue, Memorial Highway from Main Street to the entrance of the Library Parking Lot, and Westchester Place. Due to the high volume of daytime traffic, work will be done at night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Parking on affected roadways will be prohibited as of 7 p.m. each evening. Roads may be closed intermittently while work is being done. Work will be scheduled as conditions permit.

2. Thursday is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation for Roman Catholics. Holy Name Parish at 83 Clove Rd. has Masses scheduled for 6:50 a.m., 8 a.m. and noon.

3. I don't know about you but Wednesday's weather was pretty good. And it looks that Thursday will be, too. The National Weather Service's forecast for Thursday calls for a high near 79 under sunny skies. Thursday night will be mostly clear with a low around 59.

4. ICYMI: Richard Leak was sentenced to 20 years in the 2011 death of his 2-year-old son and a New Rochelle therapist was charged with raping a client.

5. High tide on the Long Island Sound Thursday will be at 5:26 a.m. and 5:53 p.m. Low tide will be at 11:45 a.m. Thursday and 12:53 a.m. Friday.
