New Orleans Jazz, 'Sweeney Todd' and Mostly Sunny Skies

Here are some of the things you need to know for Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013.

1. For one night only, The New Orleans Swamp Donkeys Traditional Jass Band will perform  at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 5, at Alvin & Friends Restaurant, 14 Memorial Hwy., in New Rochelle. Come experience the rollicking New Orleans sound of the Swamp Donkeys, featuring New Rochelle native Sam Friend on guitar, James Williams on trumpet, Jon Ramm on trombone, Wes Anderson on Sousaphone and Jams Marotta on drums. 2. Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. is the last time to audition for the YPT Teens production of Sweeney Todd at The Westchester Sandbox Theatre. This Stephen Sondheim musical will be directed by Executive Director Daniel Ferrante. Auditions are open to performers in grades 7 through 12. Auditions will take place at the Westchester Sandbox Theatre, located at 931c East Boston Post Rd. in Mamaroneck. Performers should prepare a song for auditions and bring sheet music in the correct key. A registration fee of $395 is due at the first rehearsal. Performances are October 18-27. 3. Looks like Thursday will be another great day, weather wise. The National Weather Service is calling for a mostly sunny day with a high near 77. The wind will be from the northwest 7 to 15 mph. Thursday night will be mostly lear with a low around 51. Winds will be from the north 10 to 15 mph.
