Candidates Forum, Day of the Dead and Fall Is Back

Here are some things you should know for Wednesday, October 9, 2013.

1. The New Rochelle Branch of the NAACP sponsors annual Candidates Forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday. This forum will be for candidates running for County Legislator seats for District 7, District 10 and District 11. Immediately following will be the candidates running for County Clerk. It will be held at 95 Lincoln Ave. in New Rochelle.

2. Students in grades six through 12 can help create the New Rochelle Public Library’s 2013 Day of the Dead exhibit at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, October 2. There are weekly workshops with the artists who have been presenting the exhibits for the library since 2007. They will guide participants in the making of the paper mâché figures, ofrenda and other traditional art works for this year’s display.

3. Looks like fall is back. The forecast for Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service, calls for mostly sunny skies with a high near 66. Winds will be out of the east at 13 to 15 mph. It will be partly cloudy Wednesday night with a low around 51. East winds will be 11 to 15 mph.

4. ICYMI: There was a good turn out for the fifth annual Hounds on the Sound fundraiser.
