New Rochelle Relay For Life Nets $15K

About 100 people turned out Friday to take part in New Rochelle's Relay for Life.

The four-hour event was held at Albert Leonard Middle School.

Megan McGrady, a representative for the American Cancer Society, said the event was expected to bring in $15,000 in donations. With

During the event, the fundraising teams walked around the middle school's ball field. The only rule was that at least one team member be walking at any given time.

New Rochelle resident Liz Parker, who lost her stepfather from cancer in 2007, said the relay was a great cause.

"There is a sense of togetherness," she said. "And it's a chance to do something good."
