New Rochelle Tigers Named All-American Champs

The club represented the state in under-16 championship in Texas.

Nacogdoches, TX—The Tigers Sports Club of New Rochelle are the 2012 Combat All America National Champions. Tigers Sports Club was selected by the Greater New York Sandlot Athletic Alliance (GNYSAA) to represent New York in the Combat 16u All America Games National Championship in Nacogdoches, TX, Aug. 15-19. The Tigers went undefeated through five games, scoring 50 runs and allowing just one.

Buzzy Irizarry lead the pitching for the Tigers appearing in three games, throwing six innings of no-hit baseball and striking out six. In the championship game versus Houston Thunder Baseball, the Tigers wasted no time scoring in the first inning and taking the lead permanently. With runners on the corners and one out, Brenden Cuni roped a shot to left center for a triple scoring John Valente and Jayson Gray. 

The Tigers scored a total of six runs in the first. Starting pitcher Brenden Cuni pitched three scoreless innings allowing just one hit as the Tigers Sports Club went on to win 12-0 and capture the Combat All America National Title.
