Indoor Golf Classic in New Rochelle to Raise Funds for Leukemia/Lymphoma

This is the second year the fundraiser will be held at the Radisson Hotel New Rochelle.

For the second year in a row, the will play host to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Annual Indoor Golf Classic.

The event Saturday—the organization's 20th—will raise funds for the Westchester Hudson Valley Chapter of the society.

One of the organizers—Colby Brock, the Radisson's food and beverage director—said her family has been involved with the society since 1993.

"This is a great way to contribute, to offer space to them," she said. "It brings some new people to the hotel, and we get to showcase our food and our chefs.

"And it's good for lower Westchester," Brock said, to show there are venues for benefits such as this.

The day starts at 2 p.m. when children ages 5 to 13, accompanied by adults, will play in the LLS's Third Annual Putt for the Cause Jr.

"We do a putt and play, and invite all local kids, and children affected by leukemia or lymphoma," Brock said. There will also be other activities for the children.

The main event—for adults—will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Golfers will putt on an 18-hole golf course set up throughout the hotel.

"We basically turn the hotel into a mini-golf site," Brock said.

The evening will include a cocktail hour, dinner, raffle and a live and silent auction. Organizers expect to raise $125,000.

Brock is a member of the board of trustees of the Westchester/Hudson Valley Chapter. Her father, Peter Brock, serves on the national LLS board of directors.

"I have a personal connection," she said. "Both my grandfathers passed away from leukemia."
