Beach Bar at Hudson Park in Full Swing

Though it's been open for a few weeks, the Beach Bar at Hudson Park Beach was the scene Thursday of a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Mayor Noam Bramson, who along with Tilted Kilt LLC partner James Carello wielded the scissors that cut the ribbon, thanked the men behind the renovation and reopening of the restaurant/bar on Long Island Sound.

"This is an extraordinary addition to New Rochelle," Bramson said.

He said people he has talked to around town were happy about "experiencing the Sound in an entirely different way."

Carello thanked everyone who has supported the project and worked on it, adding that it "grew from just an idea to something great."

Carello annd partners Arthur Godfrey Jr., Jerry Shanahan Jr. and Chef Brian MacMenamin own and operate the Post Road Ale House across from Faneuil Park and Armory.

In May, the City of New Rochelle intered into a 10-year agreement with Tilted Kilt to run the beach-side concession.

In the first year of the , the company invested about $236,000 in infrastructure and building improvements, including remodeling the kitchen and an outdoor dining deck, both of which will then become property of the city.

Plans for years two through five include other infrastructure improvements and possibly dock-and-dine arrangement for recreational boaters and a restaurant.
